Despite predictions of heavy rains and high winds, the 2014 Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival was a rousing success.  Yes, the numbers were down because of the weather but the spirits of everyone in attendance were up.  24 exhibitors, 8 vendors, Murph’s Gaslight for food, Eureka! for libations, and the Shadow Mountain Band for music, all served up enough smiles and good feelings to make up for the drought and the lack of flowers.  And thanks to our wonderful sponsors and donors, this annual fundraiser accomplished its mission.  The funds generated by the event will help Friends continue to acquire land for conservation, educate kids, lead hikes, build and maintain trails, pull weeds, man the Visitor Center, and to do so many other things in support of both our National Monument and of conservation efforts throughout the Coachella Valley.

So in closing out this year’s festival, we invite you all to join us in caring for these mountains and desert landscapes for another wonderful year.  Please visit our Donate page and be a Friend of the Desert Mountains.
