Golfers challenged the stunning Tom Doak-designed course while raising $65,000 for Friends' conservation work at our annual benefit golf tournament, auction, and luncheon celebration at the exclusive Stone Eagle Golf Club on April 17, 2006.
Players mingled with golf legend "Mr. 59" Al Geiberger, the first player to break 60 on the PGA Tour, and took home a commemorative photo of him with their foursome on the spectacular course.

Local businessmen and women and other generous donors filled the course and enjoyed a day of ideal weather. With no homes or other structures on or around the course, golfers were afforded magnificent 360-degree views of this unique course and the valley below.
Non-golfers also enjoyed the Celebration festivities including lunch and open bar and chances to bid on exceptional auction items including a future round of golf with Mr. 59, a trip to Hawaii, and private tours to some of Friends' conservation areas.
Friends of the Desert Mountains extends our utmost thanks all those who gave so generously of their time and resources to make this event a resounding success. Proceeds will be put to work conserving the unique landscapes of our Coachella Valley and mountains for future generations to enjoy.
