Star Gazing Under A Desert Full Moon

While the brilliant moonlight means the faintest, most distant galaxies will take a back seat tonight, it opens the door to a completely different astronomical spectacle. Our volunteer astronomers will turn their high-powered telescopes toward the Moon itself to explore its dramatic craters, mountain peaks, and ancient lava plains in stunning detail. You will enjoy a quiet, cool desert evening above the urban lights. Sorry no dogs allowed near the telescopes.
Bring 1-liter water. RSVP is required. Check-in at the hike table. View map/UTM coordinates for directions to trailhead location: 33.648969, -116.309324
