Monument Young Explorers

  • Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center 51500 California 74 Palm Desert, CA, 92260 United States (map)

For children ages 5 to 7, join us at the  Kid’s Corner at the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains Visitor Center to hear a story about nature and the creatures who live in our desert.  After the reading, we will have an indoor or outdoor arts and crafts activity related to the story, or maybe take a nature walk on the Ed Hastey Garden Trail.

For ages 8 and above, we will offer a map and compass class to learn where we are in the desert. Compass and maps are a very important part of your 10 Essentials when hiking in the desert and other places. Let’s explore and have fun learning how to be safe in the desert!.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited. To RSVP or for more info, call the the Visitor Center at 760-862-9984, check the Friends of the Desert Mountains Facebook page, or visit www.DesertMountains.org.
