Come dressed as your favorite character! A prize will be given for best costume and the runner-up. Meet at the Southwest Corner at the Top of the Cove. Beginning at 5:30 PM we will do “Birding at Night for Bats”. We will be doing an active monitoring session to identify the bats that live in La Quinta Cove. Our local astronomers will setup their telescopes to give “sky tours”. Enjoy Stargazing to learn more about the night sky.
When it becomes full darkness, we will use black lights to seek out the various night creatures inhabiting your desert. Some creatures we might find are: scorpions, tarantulas, lizards, geckos, spiders, owls, jackrabbits, snakes and maybe a coyote.
This is a family event. Minors must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Bring water and wear closed-toed shoes. If you have a black light bring it along. If not, we have a few to share.
RSVP Required call 760-862-9984 or check the Friends of the Desert Mountains Facebook page or www.DesertMountains.org.
