SUMMARY:Fern Canyon Trail
DESCRIPTION:Description: This remote trail will reward you with incredible panoramic views of the sacred Cahuilla lands\, and is a hidden jewel of the desert. After climbing a cactus-lined rocky ridges\, you will come to an oasis with palms\, ferns\, and other water-loving plants. \nOverview: This moderate hike (Rating 79) is generally suitable for novice hikers who want a bit of a challenge. The terrain will involve a moderate incline and may have some steeper sections. \nTime: 9:00AM – 12:00PM \nDifficulty: Moderate due to rock scrambling. For more information about the Difficulty Rating: Shenandoah Hiking Difficulty Scale \nDistance: 4.5 miles \nElevation Gain:  700 feet (equals 70 flights of stairs) \nTerrain/Obstacles: Some of the trail goes through cactus-lined rocky ridges and has uneven terrain. \nRequirements: Minimum 2 liters of water and a snack\, Closed-toe shoes\, No dogs allowed \nRecommended: Sunscreen and hat\, Hiking poles\, Long sleeve shirt \nMeeting Location: We will be meeting at the turnout for buses and horse trailers right before the main entrance to Indian Canyons.
