Carrizo Canyon Adaptive Sports Hike

  • Art Smith Trailhead CA-74 Palm Desert, CA, 92260 United States (map)

Join SoCal Adaptive Sports, Friends of the Desert Mountains, and Desert Recreation District volunteer docents for a hike for persons with disabilities, their family and friends in Carrizo Canyon. This canyon offers a challenge with its soft sandy soil, and small to large rocks to step over, step on and go around. Carrizo Canyon is a geologic wonder and is in the Peninsular Bighorn Sheep Preserve. Sorry, but no dogs are allowed.

Hike rating is easy to moderate, approximately 3 miles round trip. Elevation gain about 300 feet. Bring snacks and 2 liters of water per person. Wear close-toed shoes, hat and sunscreen. Due to public health regulations it is suggested that you wear a mask and practice social distancing.
