Welcome Volunteers!

Welcome to Friends of the Desert Mountains (Friends) volunteer program. Volunteering for Friends is a treasure for the organization.  No matter what you do for Friends, it is greatly appreciated by our Board of Directors and staff.  We couldn’t do it without you and we hope that you enjoy working with us to make this experience outstanding.

The mission of the Friends of the Desert Mountains is to preserve land, to support education, conservation and research in the Coachella Valley, and to act as the support organization for the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.

We value habitat acquisition and effective management as the most important tool for conservation in the Coachella Valley.  The key to our success is leveraging dollars, resources and relationships in the community.

Our vision for the Coachella Valley is a thriving and productive community integrated with a healthy and sustainable natural environment.

Friends have been around for over 30 years and we are still going strong.  We have helped preserve and conserve over 56,000 acres of land and currently hold title to approximately 17,000 acres. Each year, more than 100 volunteers contribute over 15,000 hours of their time to our organization.

Friends’ has a lot to offer to our volunteers. I hope you take the time to check out all the programs and trainings we provide to you for free.  We welcome you to our group and always remember that our doors are always open to you and to your ideas. Our success is your success!

Welcome and we’re honored to have you part of our team.
